Behind the project
Hola, soy Marián.
I am a Spanish teacher and the person behind Learning the Cervantes Language.
I am from Spain and I live in London. Learning another language changed the way I understood communication, culture and even my own mother tongue. It made me notice all the things native speakers do without thinking — and how much richer language becomes when you understand the world around it.
That experience led me to train as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) and, eventually, to create this project.
Language is never just language.
It carries stories, habits, humour, memory, history and ways of seeing the world. That is why this space brings together Spanish, culture and stories instead of treating them as separate things.
I want learners to have room to understand, question, practise and enjoy the process — without feeling that everything has to be rushed, perfect or productive.
